 01 . 关于展览 

Overlapped - Digital Image


2021年12月25日,物舍艺术将荣幸呈现“重叠·数字之像—隋丞师生艺术展”。展示隋丞教授“知识作为一种方法”的教学方法通过突破固有的思维模式,开启思维的多重视角和维度,用联接和生成的方法整合知识与图像的创作方式。
在后疫情时代“不确定”的状态下,互联网、物联网、区块链技术、NFT等电子信息技术扑面而来,数字艺术已经成为了一种新艺术。
“重叠·数字之像”用数字化方法将块茎结构的思维与多视角、多维度相结合,将思维与知识、观念与感觉、规律与灵感做联接与整合,扩展认知的深度与广度。通过数字化的创作方式探讨媒材、工具、技术对艺术的改变;数字艺术或多媒体艺术能否终结绘画;数字艺术能否像传统艺术那样保持“尊严”;数字艺术如何定义“艺术”等问题。
此次物舍艺术举办隋丞师生艺术展旨在通过联接艺术与学术、艺术家与设计师、经典与时尚,实现艺术作品的跨界转化与创新。把艺术教育的新方法、新成果通过跨界与破圈的实验与尝试,将作品演化延伸,引入生活的场景中,平衡人们对精神和功能的双重需求。探讨后疫情时代艺术与生活结合多种可能性,推进当代艺术在中国的普及化发展进程。

On 25 December 2021, Wushe Art is proud to present "Overlapped - Digital Images - Sui Cheng's Art Exhibition for Teachers and Students". The exhibition will showcase Professor Sui Cheng's teaching method of "knowledge as a method", which opens up multiple perspectives and dimensions of thought by breaking out of the conventional mode of thinking, and integrating knowledge and image creation by means of linkage and generation.

In the post-epidemic era of "uncertainty", digital art has become a new art with the advent of electronic information technologies such as the Internet, the Internet of Things, blockchain technology and NFT.

"Overlapped - Digital Image" uses digital methods to combine block-structured thinking with multiple perspectives and dimensions, linking and integrating thinking and knowledge, ideas and feelings, laws and inspirations, expanding the depth and breadth of cognition. Through digital creation, the exhibition explores how media, tools and technology have changed art; whether digital art or multimedia art can end painting; whether digital art can maintain the same "dignity" as traditional art; and how digital art defines "art".

This exhibition of Sui Cheng and his students aims to transform and innovate artworks across borders by linking art and academia, artists and designers, classics and fashion. By experimenting with new methods and achievements in art education through crossing borders and breaking circles, the works will evolve and extend and be introduced into the scenes of life, balancing people's needs for both spirituality and functionality. To explore the many possibilities of combining art and life in the post-epidemic era, and to advance the process of popularising contemporary art in China.

 作品介绍 

《绵延浮水》浮水者是当代都市人的生存隐喻。浮游既是自由又是限制,都市既是此岸又是彼岸。作品制造了一个图景,一个由人构成的景观社会,仿佛一个镜像,将古典自然山水和当代水泥森林相融,复合为一种新景观,在这个图式中浮水者既是他们也是我们。
继《绵延浮水》之后,又创作了《浮水·云朵》,将浮水者和云朵重叠相连,复合为人与云的相关形象,圆形没有边界外延的形式,意喻了互联网时代人们既交互又分离的状态,人与物可以聚集、纠缠、相融、交互,又可以游离、发散、独立。人与云在这个聚散,复合,自由组合的时间与空间中延绵。

Continuous floating water: Sui Cheng's floating person is a metaphor for the survival of contemporary urban people. Floating is both freedom and restriction,and the city is both the near shore and the offshore. He created a picture, a landscape society composed of people. His work is like a mirror, combining classical natural mountains and rivers with contemporary cement forests to form a new landscape, in which, the floating people are both them and us.
Following Overlapping· Floating series, he created Floating Water·Cloud series. This series overlap and connect the floating water and clouds together, and compose the images of people and clouds. The form of circle without boundary extension means  people in the Internet era are in a state of interaction and separation, people and things can gather, entangle, blend, interact, and meanwhile can be free, divergent and independent from each other. People and clouds extend in this time and space full of meeting and parting, reunion and freedom.

 作品说明  


“月”与“肉”因其小篆字体相近而合并为一个偏旁,即“肉月旁”,它所构成的字多是与身体相关,指的是肉体。本是两种风马牛不相及的意象,却因为形似而联系在一起,系列作品的命名也是来源于此。 

最初是生命体与工具之间感性与秩序、控制与异化的关系,到身体自身暗含的形式感成为一种景观,而后是中国传统的山水画作所带给我的身体的想象。

轮廓的起伏、骨骼结构带来的转折、脂肪堆积产生的变化以及肉体本身或粗糙或细腻都呈现出了不同的特征和质感,将身体投射于山水之中,或者说在经典山水画中置入身体的意象,这种不完全的重合产生了“缝隙”,最终转换成为某种新的风景或不确定的存在。


"The two characters 'moon' and 'meat' are combined into a single radical due to their similarity in small seal script, namely 'meat-moon radical', which is mostly associated with the body and refers to flesh. The name of the series derives from the fact that the two images, which are unrelated to each other, are linked by their similarity in form.
Initially the relationship between sensuality and order, control and alienation between the living body and the instrument, to the body's own implicit sense of form as a landscape, and then to the imagery of the body brought to me by traditional Chinese landscape painting.
The undulation of the contours, the twists and turns of the skeletal structure, the variations in the accumulation of fat and the flesh itself, whether rough or delicate, all present different characteristics and textures, projecting the body into the landscape, or rather placing the body in the imagery of a classic landscape painting, this incomplete overlap creates a 'gap' that eventually transforms into some new landscape or an indeterminate presence.

 作品说明  


作品立足于当代图像,从视觉经验与思维方式的角度出发,将西方文艺复兴时期古典绘画作品中的人物元素融入到中国宋代时期的山水作品中,并赋予理性以构造产生新的感觉。通过重新反思历史,传统文化及当下的现实语境,将中外不同形式风格的图像重新组合在新的结构中,从根本上切断了被挪用图像的原初语境,使其具备新的意义。简单和复杂这一双重性贯穿在作品的概念之中。作品中人物元素都是来自西方神话、圣经或者历史题材里的人物,从中外两种文化的差异与融合的隐性层面给人们提供更深层次的认知。


Based on contemporary images, the work incorporates elements of figures from classical Western Renaissance paintings into Chinese landscape works of the Song Dynasty from the perspective of visual experience and way of thinking, and gives reason to the construction to produce a new feeling. By rethinking history, traditional culture and the current context, images of different formal styles from China and abroad are reassembled in a new structure, fundamentally cutting off the original context of the appropriated images and giving them a new meaning. The duality of simplicity and complexity permeates the concept of the work. The figures in the work are drawn from Western mythological, biblical or historical themes, providing a deeper understanding of the differences and fusion of the two cultures on an implicit level.

 作品说明  


钥匙作为一种解锁工具,在生活中常常被当作重要物件随身携带,钥匙掌管着重要财物、守护着重要空间,与经济、政治、文化密不可分,因其神秘性进入宗教,化身为进出天堂或地狱的重要符号。又因其两面性被弗洛伊德解释为婚姻与两性,因其历史性被盐田千春转译为记忆的符号,因其空间性被弗朗西斯·培根绘入到三联画中,小小的钥匙,被依托着物质和精神上的重任。钥匙由人类发明至今经过了一轮又一轮的演变,从中国最早出现的觿、到现如今的指纹、面钥、电子钥匙等,每一把钥匙几乎都与直接使用的手相关。于是我将中外具有通用涵义的手与钥匙相结合,将两者运用到我的创作当中,输出自己的思考,生成一系列实验性绘画。

 

As an unlocking tool, the key is often carried around as an important object in life, holding important possessions and guarding important spaces, inseparable from the economy, politics and culture. It was interpreted by Freud as marriage and the two sexes, by Chiharu Shiota as a symbol of memory, and by Francis Bacon in a triptych for its spatiality, and the small key has been entrusted with material and spiritual responsibilities. From the earliest Chinese bodkin to the present day fingerprints, facial keys and electronic keys, each key is almost always associated with the hand that is used directly. So I combined the hand, which has a universal meaning in China and abroad, with the key, and applied both to my creation,  and the gesture is exported to generate a series of experimental paintings.

 作品说明  


以超现实主义艺术家达利的作品《永恒的记忆》为母题创作了这一系列作品。“网”在这里代表着禁锢、束缚的感受,在生活中我们不断受到规则的限制、时间的限制,在这些限制中又有着不同的缺口去追寻我们心中所向往的自由,在原作中达利表现了一种如他自己所说的“弗洛伊德所揭示的个人梦境与幻觉”。在我的作品中,提取了画面中的一些元素与网结合,以表现现实与内心渴望之间的关系。钟代表的扭曲的时间与软化的网形成一种虚拟与现实的结合,扭曲与断裂的网传达出禁锢中又有气口的感觉,强调时间的挪移,对限制的反应,以引起观者的思考。同时,在对自由的探索中,我加入了些许波普艺术的元素,而在时间维度,我逐渐加入了对空间的探索,试图寻找更多维度的自由与束缚,这一对矛盾贯穿我的作品始终,我想能够看清楚矛盾、了解矛盾、在矛盾中自洽是我在创作中所不断追求的。

 

The series is based on the surrealist artist Dali's 'Eternal Memory'. "The "net" in this case represents the feeling of confinement and bondage, where we are constantly subjected to the constraints of rules and time, and within these constraints there are different gaps to pursue the freedom we desire in our hearts. In the original work Dalí expressed, as he himself put it, "the personal dream and hallucination revealed by Freud". In my work, elements of the image are extracted and combined with the net to show the relationship between reality and inner longing. The distorted time represented by the clock and the softened net form a combination of the virtual and the real. The twisted and fractured net conveys a sense of confinement with an airy mouth, emphasising the displacement of time and a reaction to the limitations in order to provoke the viewer to think. At the same time, in the exploration of freedom, I have added some elements of Pop Art, while in the dimension of time, I have gradually added the exploration of space, trying to find more dimensions of freedom and confinement. This pair of contradictions runs through my works, and I think being able to see the contradictions clearly, understand them and be self-consistent in them is what I am constantly pursuing in my creation.

 作品说明  


《重逢的山水》系列是在经过对现当代绘画语言发生发展及特征的学习后,用山水作为物象的启点,再结合重逢的词汇去进行整合。把已有知识作为一种方法,运用现当代艺术中的一种创作方式去进行图像的重逢性实验。以漏版印刷为手段,利用中国传统山水的图像为切入点,结合数字时代下艺术的科技化技术,运用现当代绘画语言中的拼贴、位移与重构等方法对语言图示的再整理,以及对图像的再应用,对当代艺术主题的应用和科学方法的运用,从而在单一语言的原点上生成多语言体系。在真实世界被图像建构的虚拟时代中,试图寻找出一种真与假二元对立图像同时存在的实验性方式。


The Reunited Landscapes series is a study of the development and characteristics of contemporary painting language, using landscape as a starting point for objects and then integrating them with the vocabulary of reunion. Using existing knowledge as a method, the series experiments with the reunion of images using a creative approach from contemporary art. The use of the traditional Chinese landscape image as an entry point, combined with the technology of art in the digital age, the use of collage, displacement and reconstruction in the language of contemporary painting, the reorganisation of linguistic iconography, the reapplication of images, the application of contemporary art themes and the use of scientific methods, thus generating a multilingual system from a single linguistic point of origin. In a virtual age where the real world is constructed by images, an attempt is made to find an experimental way in which true and false dichotomies of images exist simultaneously.
